Your morphine will come in either Zomorph capsules or MST Continus Suspension granules in a little sachet. These are long-acting or modified release (MR) morphine. MR medicine relieves pain, dyspnea, or coughing all day and all night by gradually releasing the drug into your bloodstream.

When taken whole, Zomorph capsules are intended to function as intended for 12 hours. The full 12-hour dosage may be quickly absorbed into your body if a capsule breaks or if the contents are chewed or crushed.

Only once or twice every two weeks should the dosage be decreased. For instance, you could consider cutting the dosage of morphine by 10 mg if you are now taking 50 mg twice daily. After that, you would take 50 mg at night and 40 mg in the morning. This should be kept up for a week or two.
